Susan Cafarelli Burke lives with her husband Larry and their dog Monet, nestled in the Santa Cruz Mountains about 7 minutes from Monterey Bay. She was a graphic artist and humanities teacher before taking up fine arts. “I have loved all my varied experiences from designing brochures to teaching comparative religions but I feel that fine art is where I feel the most exhilerated.” It all began with one watercolor class in 2000. In 2003 Susan took several painting seminars in Italy. “The exhilaration that came from painting everyday changed my life and I became more and more determined to be a professional artist.”
Susan resigned from teaching humanities at the end of 2004 and since then has been busy working on a BFA in painting from San Jose State and setting up her art studio. She has been board member of the Santa Cruz Art League where she designed a Rack Card still used to promote the League on the central coast. Her works have been chosen for two Cabrillo College art shows. At present Susan is continuing her BFA studies as well as developing her art career.
